Tijdens Comm’Unité viert N9 feest, samen met de bewoners van het Eeklose Rode Kruis Opvangcentrum. De rode draad dit jaar is hiphop, met Baloji (Starflam), Fatih (Rauw & Onbesproken) en enkele speciale gasten…
Baloji, Luikse rapper met Congolese roots, werd eind de jaren ’90 bekend met Starflam. In 2004 ging hij solo. Sindsdien bracht hij twee platen uit en werkte hij mee aan Damon Albarns Africa Express project. Op zijn laatste EP, ‘64 Bits and Malachite’ (2015), mengt Baloji hiphop met Afrikaanse muziek, Frans chanson, soul, funk en jazz.
Maar eerst is het de beurt aan Fatih. Die is half Turk, half Belg, socioloog, straatjongen, moslim, vriend, vijand… maar vooral MC. Hij is lid van de Gentse formatie Rauw & Onbesproken, waarmee hij in 2010 De Beloften won. Voor Comm’Unité brengt Fatih enkele collega’s uit de R&O-stal mee.
Maar er is meer. Fatih slaat namelijk de handen in elkaar met de bewoners van het Rode Kruis Opvangcentrum. Hij zal er enkele dagen resideren en samen met hen muziek maken. Groep Intro vzw begeleidt mee het project en bracht een werelds dansteam op de been. Spektakel verzekerd in N9 villa!

Baloji, the Belgian rapper with Congolese roots, is als known as the leading member of the band Starflam. After flying solo in 2004, Baloji has released two albums and was part of Damon Albarns Afraca Express project. On his latest EP, Baloji mixes hiphop with African music, French chansons, soul, funk and jazz.
Fatih, who is opening for Baloji, is part Turkisch, part Belgian, a sociologist, street kid, muslim, friend and foe … but foremost, he is an MC. He is a member of Rauw & Onbesproken, the collective that won the Ghent music contest ‘De Beloften’ in 2010. For ‘Comm’Unité’, Fatih is bringing some of his colleagues from R&O. Moreover, before the concert, he will be staying at the local Red Cross refugee center for a few days, where he will join hands with the residents to make music.
