Tijdens Gizehfest viert Gizeh Records de diversiteit van zijn roster. Een eerste editie van het festival vond plaats in februari 2018 in Manchester. Dit jaar komt het festival ook naar België. Er treedt een selectie artiesten aan die de voorbije jaren gelinkt waren aan het Britse label. Het belooft een verbluffende avond te worden vol grensverleggende sonische ervaringen, eenmalige samenwerkingen en exclusieve performances.

NADJA
Multi-instrumentalist Aidan Baker en bassiste Leah Buckareff liggen aan de basis van wat wel eens als drone doom of metalgaze wordt benoemd. In hun zware, atmosferische muziek combineren ze elementen uit doom metal, industrial, shoegaze en ambient. Recentste worp ‘Sonnborner’ verscheen in september.
A-SUN AMISSA
A-Sun Amissa is het muziekcollectief rond Gizeh labelbaas Richard Knox. Het geluid van de band, die vaak wisselt van bezetting, herbergt invloeden uit postrock, doom, dark-jazz en drone. De songs bevatten vele lagen: treurige, melancholische melodieën, donderende beats en intense, deinende gitaren. Laatste album ‘Ceremony in the Stillness’ is uit sinds september.
AIDAN BAKER & KAREN WILLEMS
In zijn solowerk exploreert Aidan Baker alle sonische mogelijkheden van de elektrische gitaar. Hij schippert tussen post-rock en hedendaags klassiek. Karen Willems benadert drummen op een spontane, organische manier en vermijdt daarbij alle clichés. Haar eigenzinnigheid leidde al tot samenwerkingen met onder andere Pascal Deweze, Jan Swerts en Mauro Pawlowski.
OTTO LINDHOLM & JEAN D.L. (exclusieve samenwerking)
De muziek van Brusselse producer Otto Lindholm laveert tussen drone en modern klassiek. De man verbindt zijn contrabas met een batterij loop stations en elektronische effecten en schept zo een scala van wellustige klanken en langgerekte melodieën. Jean D.L. creëert met zijn gitaar en tape machine een eigen universum vol wazige soundscapes, dat tegelijkertijd intimistisch én noisy is.
